Good news.

Thought he may have just been pipped by Ben Arfa who's had an immense season by all accounts and on his way to Barcelona.

France will win it IMO.

I thought you were joking Bernie until I googled him, good season he's had at Nice.

So no payet in the USA but lacazette will be

That should make Lacazette's price more realistic.

Re: Payet named in France squad for Euro 2016
Not convinced they'll win it, koscielny and varane aren't solid enough in defence. They have a real problem with conceding from set pieces.

They do have great midfield though - which English players would be selected ahead of pogba, matuidi and diarra ? - and some good attacking players

Lacazette will realise you need to be at a club like West Ham to get in the national squad.

Happy for Dimi. He wants it, so I want him to have it.

Excellent - I'm more excited to see Payet play than watching England.

Re: Payet named in France squad for Euro 2016
Just for point of reference, how the fuck are we supposed to pronounce his name?

Naturally, him being a French national I would and have done, pronounced it PAYAY.

I have also heard PIEYAY, PIEYET, PAYET and PIE'EEY.

Reminds me of that bloke Terry Henry.

Reunioners pronounce it Pie-yet, like we do.

The French are wrong about everything.

Re: Payet named in France squad for Euro 2016
Pie-ette. Not sure why but the frogs definitely pronounce the t.

Cruise ship I worked on was supposed to stop at La Reunion but because they had an election, they decided to pass, went to Seychelles and Mauritius instead

Turns out OTB is spot on.

Its a regional thing apparently but it is PIE YET (hard T)

Dont sound half as fancy and poncey as PAYAY

I only know because someone on here is married to a Reunionist.

Which, incidentally, is where Laurent Robert is from.

Special rules for proper nouns - the S in Lens gets full value, for example, even though the one in Calais doesn't.

Bit like Leicester or Cholmondeley.
